New Jersey governor Chris Christie anticipates online gambling in New Jersey to produce about $1bn in casino revenue by the middle of next year, reports NJ.com.
Industry analysts have said Christie’s projection, made as part of the New Jersey state budget and which anticipates $160m in tax revenue from the venture, is too optimistic.
Analysts “expect about $300m in revenue” to be generated in the first 12 months, to November 2014.
On Monday, Christie told a press conference in state capital Trenton that his projections are unchanged and that he was happy with last week’s launch.
