Over 91k Internet gambling accounts opened in New Jersey

The New Jersey Gaming Enforcement Division indicated that 91,531 Internet gambling accounts have been opened since the state began an Internet gambling trial that began on November 21.What’s more, Internet gamblers opened roughly 20,000 accounts last week alone. Internet gambling was officially opened to the public starting November 25.

New Jersey casinos that offer Internet gambling stories include Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City and the Tropicana Casino and Resort. Resorts Casino Hotel could also join the group down the line, but Isai Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars, their online partner, has been indicted. This resulted in PokerStars being barred from offering Internet gambling for two years.

Though Internet gambling in New Jersey didn’t launch without any bugs or issues, it’s clear that at the very least, there are plenty of people who are willing to shun the glitz and bright lights in favor of their favorite chair the comfort of home. What remains to be seen though, is whether the cash generated by online gamblers will add to the revenue of participating NJ-based casinos, or merely shuffle revenue from those who play in person to those who choose to wager from their desks.
