Bookies’ plan for new shop in Leicester city centre

WilliamHillshop3Bookmaker William Hill wants to open a new betting shop in Leicester city centre.

The firm has applied for planning permission to convert a disused shop at 48 Market Place.

Planning officers at the city council are considering the project.

Leicester’s deputy mayor councillor Rory Palmer has previously raised concerns about the numbers of bookmakers in the city centre and the rise in gambling.
