Isle of Man-based gaming software supplier Microgaming has announced the launch of the MPN Poker Tour (MPNPT), with the event set to commence in London this May.In its inaugural year the MPNPT will travel through several European cities including London, Malta and the Estonian capital of Tallinn. Each event will feature a deep-stacked, slow-structured €550 main tournament alongside a number of cheaper side-tournaments, looking to attract both casual and series players.
The MPNPT is designed to build a community among MPN players and operators, with Microgaming bringing a number of online innovations to the live events, including the ability to accumulate achievements by playing in tournaments.
“We have built some fantastic poker features over the past couple of years and we plan to bring them to the MPN Poker Tour,” Microgaming’s head of poker Lydia Barbara commented.
The London event will run from May 29th to June 2nd, and will be held at the Aspers Casino in the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford.
Players can qualify for the MPNPT by playing on a number of the skins on the network including Betsson, Betsafe, BetVictor, NordicBet, PAF, PokerHeaven, Stan James, Triobet, Pokerihuone and 24hPoker.
BetVictor’s head of poker Andy Horne said the operator was “delighted” to be part of the tour.
“The majority of our players have never played a live event before,” he explained. “They are glad of the opportunity to qualify for a live event with a decent buy-in for, essentially, just the pennies in their pockets.”
“Live events are very important to us – meeting our players and socialising with them is a core part of what we do,” Paf head of poker Herbert Paradis added. “We’re thrilled about the MPNPT and we would like to thank Microgaming for pulling out the stops and facilitating what is going to be a fantastic poker tour.”
