According to the Venturebeat.com website, investors included IDG Ventures, Lowercase Capital and Jari Ovaskainen, the firm’s original investor and an early investor in fellow mobile games company Supercell.
Additional funding came from IDG Capital, AMC Networks Ventures and York Ventures, while individual investors include former Microsoft chief marketing officer Mich Mathews, Initial Capital’s Ken Lamb, and eOne’s chief executive Darren Throop.
Next Games was started by a number of industry veterans from Rovio, Supercell and Disney.
Teemu Huuhtanen, chief executive of Next Games, said that the firm is planning to develop games that are popular on an international level.
The company is already working on two titles in the form of ‘The Walking Dead’ and a yet-to-be announced mobile game.
Huuhtanen said that The Walking Dead title would debut worldwide on Android and iOS, and possibly other platforms.
“The game is in production, and we’ll release more details in the future,” Huuhtanen said.
