Child steps down from Rank Group

British gambling operator Rank Group has announced that Colin Child has resigned from his role as senior independent director with immediate effect.

Child’s resignation means he will also step down from the company’s board.

Child first joined the Rank Group board on January 1, 2012 and become senior independent director and chairman of the nominations committee on July 1, 2013. He also became chairman of the audit committee on October 17, 2013.

Ian Burke, chairman and chief executive of Rank Group, is to lead the search for a new senior independent director and will make a further announcement when a successor has been found.

“On behalf of the board of Rank I would like to thank Colin for his commitment and hard work during his time with Rank,” Burke said. “The board is extremely sorry to see him go.”
