Nevada online poker sites generate $8.5m in first 10 months

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has announced that the three online poker websites currently live in the US state have generated just $8.5 million (€6.2 million) in revenue since the launch of a regulated internet poker service in Nevada.

As reported by iGaming Business, Nevada launched a regulated online poker service in April 2013, becoming the first US state to do so.

Online gaming operator Ultimate Gaming was the first to go live with its Ultimate Poker service, while fellow operators Real Gaming and WSOP.com have also launched in the past 10 months.

Although the regulatory board did not release individual results for each of the sites, figures from the Pokerscout website suggest WSOP.com is leading the way.

Pokerscout said WSOP.com attracted around 55% of the market in February while Ultimate Poker managed to draw in approximately 45%. Real Gaming only launched in February of this year and is yet to establish itself fully in the market.

Despite the introduction of a new online poker operator in February, the three websites were only able to generate $824,000 between them during the month.

The state’s overall gambling performance also suffered during the month, with the total $926.1 million in revenue generated in February 2014 being 13.7% lower than the amount collected in the corresponding month last year.

Nevada’s online gaming operations were able to generate more in revenue during February than fellow regulated state Delaware, which drew in just $73,971 in the month.

However, New Jersey, which also launched a regulated online gaming service last year, was able to collect $10.3 million in internet gambling revenue during February 2014.
