RealNetworks appoints Bali as president of games

US digital media developer RealNetworks has appointed Atul Bali as president of its games division.

Bali, who will assume his new role later this month, will oversee RealNetworks’ games portfolio, which includes the Slingo brand as well the GameHouse and Zylom game distribution networks.

Having previously served as president and chief executive officer of Aristocrat Technologies, Bali has also held senior positions at the likes of GTECH and XEN Group.

“Atul is a widely respected leader in the land-based and digital gaming spaces with deep expertise, strong relationships, proven leadership skills, and a passion for games,” RealNetworks chairman and interim chief executive officer, Rob Glaser, said.

“He is precisely the right person to lead the reinvention of our games business.”

Meanwhile, RealNetworks has also announced that Scott Uomoto is to step down from his position as senior vice-president of the company.

Uomoto will leave the firm at the end of June in order to relocate to California.

Speaking about his departure, Uomoto said: “I’ve loved my time at Real and I’m incredibly proud of what our team has done, especially our reinvention over the past 18 months of the RealPlayer.

“While there’s much more to do, I’m very confident that our excellent team will do a great job driving the RealPlayer Cloud product and business forward.”
