LuckyFish catches Carmel Ventures investment

LuckyFish Games, a developer of luck-based social games for mobile and social media, has announced the closing of $1.6 million in Series A funding from Carmel Ventures, a member of the Viola Group.

The investment marks the first time that Carmel Ventures has committed to funding in this sector.

Founded in 2012 by Roi Fishman, LuckyFish has developed 22 live games to date and boasts approximately 200,000 daily active players.

“We found LuckyFish to have a unique combination of a professional management team, exclusive content, and a cutting edge BI system which enables real-time analysis,” Carmel Ventures general partner Daniel Cohen said.

“These are the key factors to LuckyFish’s growth in a very exciting market.”

Roi Fishman, founder and chief executive officer of Lucky Fish, added: “This funding will allow us to capture the rapidly evolving opportunity in the growing market of social gaming as a whole and social fortune games in particular.

“The partnership with Carmel Ventures is also a validation of our innovative viral offering and our business model.”

The Carmel Ventures investment comes shortly after LuckyFish launched its first collection of OMG! Fortune social games on Facebook.

The game enables players to purchase virtual items, win prizes and enjoy various social features.

LuckyFish will also launch an Android version of OMG! Fortune later this month, with an iOS version expected in June.
