Skillz launches cash tournament platform on iOS

Mobile games development company Skillz has announced the launch of its Skillz SDK multiplayer cash tournament platform on iOS.

Users of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices will now have access to more than 150 skill-based mobile games via Apple’s App Store.

Cash competitions in skill-based games are legal in 37 US states as winning cash while playing such titles depends on a player’s ability rather than luck.

Games are now available to iOS users include Strike!, Real Money/Bowling, Mini Golf 3D Putt Putt Game and Skate Trash.

Skillz also said that the launch would support the development of its gamer community, which it claimed is growing by more than 10,000 new users every day with early partners generating more than $0.20 in incremental revenue per daily active user.

More than 300 studios with over 2,700 games have selected the Skillz platform as their exclusive partner.

Andrew Paradise, founder and chief executive officer of Skillz, said: “While some of the most well known and successful mobile games like Candy Crush are generating between $0.05 and $0.10 in ARPDAU, we have partners who have added three times that amount in incremental revenue through the addition of the Skillz cash tournament platform.

“Results like this are why we’ve had over 200 studios sign up as pre-launch customers and today have over 100 games available on the App Store.”
