Betfred withdraws online poker service from 19 countriesUK bookmaker Betfred has made the decision to withdraw its online poker services from a total of 19 countries due to “regulatory and general licensing processes”.

In addition to online bingo and sports betting services, Betfred currently operates an internet poker room on the Playtech-owned iPoker Network and it was poker resource website PokerStartegy.com – also owned by Playtech – which announced the news earlier this week.

A statement on PokerStartegy.com stated that as of June 9 (Monday), the bookmaker had withdrawn its Betfred Poker service from South Africa, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Portugal, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania.

All accounts in the territories will be closed and players will have 30 days to withdraw their money.

Betfred is yet to make an official announcement on the move.
