Singaporean politicians visited French igaming regulator ARJEL as part of a fact-finding mission that could lead to the city-state revamping its regulatory model for online gaming.
ARJEL said that it would follow-up its meeting with the Singaporean delegates by holding an informal meeting in September in Berlin with regulators from Britain, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Germany.
Singapore has been developing its regulatory approach to online gaming for the past year, and ARJEL president Charles Coppolani welcomed representatives of the Ministries of the Interior and Social and Family as the visitors attempted to gain a better understanding of the French model.
“This meeting is part of the necessary exchanges… to ensure that gambling and online gambling entertainment remain consistent with the challenges of internal security, health and the fight against the scourges that are international corruption and money laundering,” ARJEL said.
