Coral poaches Boylesports CTO for sportsbook director role

coralimageCoral Interactive, a subsidiary of Gala Coral Group, has hired former Boylesports chief executive and chief technology officer Keith O’Loughlin as the company’s new sportsbook director. O’Loughlin (pictured) joins Coral after just under three years with Boylesports, having been appointed as head of online and mobile in August 2011.

He was then promoted to chief executive of the operator’s online business, before taking a broader, technology-focused role as chief technology officer in August last year.

He has previously served as CTO of Irish knowledge solutions company Intuition Publishing, and director of sales for educational technology business CampusIT.

Commenting on his new role, O’Loughlin said he was joining the company at an exciting time, with Coral Interactive having relaunched its business on new platforms and put a new management team in place less than two years ago.

“I am delighted to have been asked to join the team and to lead the next phase in the development of Coral’s online and mobile sportsbook,” he added.

He will report to Coral Interactive director John O’Reilly in the new role, who described the appointment as “another key step in the growth of Coral online.”

“The business has a good growth momentum and Keith will play an important role in the further developing the sports offering across web and mobile,” O’Reilly explained.

Coral’s online business performed impressively in the second quarter of 2014, with active customer numbers up 38 per cent year-on-year, driven in part by the launch of the Coral Connect multi-channel wallet solution. The company’s mobile penetration also increased to 64 per cent of active customers.
