Gaming machine and casino management systems specialist Aristocrat Technologies has entered into talks to purchase US competitor Video Gaming Technologies (VGT) in a deal worth a reported $1 billion (€734.3 million).
According to the Reuters news agency, people familiar with the talks said that discussions have been going on for a number of months.
VGT, which has been for sale on and off for a number of years, primarily makes slot machines for Native American casinos.
A successful deal could significantly boost Sydney-based Aristocrat’s expansion into the US market.
Aristocrat already has a market cap of more than $2.8 billion.
Neither company responded to requests for comment.
