Paysafecard expands into Peru and Uruguay

Pre-paid payment provider paysafecard has continued its expansion into new markets by launching in Peru and Uruguay.

The expansion into the new territories will further enhance paysafecard’s overall presence in the Latin American market.

Paysafecard already has a presence in South America, with the product having been available in Mexico since 2010 and Argentina since 2009.

Paysafecard will initially launch at 3,500 sales outlets in Peru, with this set to increase to 10,000 during the coming months.

Distribution in Uruguay will be handled by an exclusive operator that operates around 5,000 sales outlets.

Udo Müller, chief executive officer of paysafecard, said: “As Latin American countries, Peru and Uruguay offer both optimal conditions and enormous potential for our product.

“It is for these reasons that we are hugely excited about taking this step. It is against this backdrop and with strong local partners that we continue to grow as world market leader in a deliberate fashion.

“Our ambitious expansion plans will follow the opening up of these two countries with further new markets, and will soon see us present across the breadth of Latin America.”
