PokerStars rolls out licensed Bulgarian offering and new software

PokerStars is celebrating the launch of its Bulgarian-facing online poker site, the first locally licensed poker offering in the country, under the licence awarded to it earlier this year by the Bulgarian State Gambling Commission (SGC). The company said that the local licence recognises the reliability of the PokerStars platform and provides confidence to customers, who will be able to compete with players from around the world via PokerStars.bg.

Eric Hollreiser, head of corporate communications for the Rational Group, commented: “PokerStars strives to be first-in-market when online poker licenses are made available and we’re proud to be the first locally licensed poker site in Bulgaria.

“We believe in the potential of the Bulgarian market and that is why our company has invested in the local license. Regulation provides peace of mind for players and ensures that local regulators can protect consumers and collect much-needed revenue.”

The launch of PokerStars.bg coincides with the release of PokerStars 7 in beta for .COM, .EU and .ES clients.

The latest desktop software promises a more refined look and feel compared to the previous client and includes a number of added features, which the company said would help both new and existing players to start playing poker faster.

“Over the last few years, we have invested countless hours to research, design and develop this new iteration of our flagship software,” said PokerStars head of poker communications Lee Jones.

The new software, which is currently only available for Windows devices, includes features such as a one-click Quick Seat function, a new favourites tab to store preferred games and tournaments, and a live events tab that displays all the live competitions to which PokerStars is running satellites.

“We believe this release is friendlier for new players and more intuitive and powerful for our veterans,” added Jones. “So now we’re inviting our players to test the beta version of the software and help us ensure that it meets the high standards that everyone expects of PokerStars.”
