Scientific Games signs instant games deals with Taiwan and Minnesota lotteries

US gaming provider Scientific Games Corporation has signed two new instant games supply deals, agreeing a two-year extension to its contract with the Minnesota Lottery, and agreeing a new deal with the Taiwan Lottery. Under the terms of the partnership with the Minnesota Lottery, Scientific Games will continue to serve as the secondary instant game provider for two additional years, with the new term beginning on July 1st.

Minnesota Lottery director Ed Van Petten said the extension of the instant games contract showed that the products Scientific Games offers have served as a great asset to the company’s portfolio.

“From licensed brands to unique play action and prize structures, these games are among the favorites with players in Minnesota,” Van Petten said. “We have worked with Scientific Games since 1990 to create games that provide entertainment, value and engagement with the Lottery’s brand.”

“We are delighted to continue our collaboration to drive increased returns to the state’s general fund and the environment,” he added.

As well as supplying the lottery with traditional instant games, Scientific Games also provides its Sciplay ecommerce solution to facilitate the sale of draw and eInstant games via web and mobile channels. It also launched eScratch games in February last year, marking the first deployment of instant online games by a US lottery.

Scientific Games senior vice president of instant products John Schulz commented that his company’s work with the Minnesota Lottery “has been a great example of innovating through customer solutions.”

Scientific Games has also signed a new contract to supply instant games to the Taiwan Lottery Corporation (TLC). The two-year deal began in June 2014, and comes with the option of a two year extension.

TLC is a subsidiary of CTBC Financial Holding, and operates Taiwan’s Public Welfare Lottery. It is tasked with creating job opportunities for the disadvantaged in society and generating funds for welfare projects.

SG was awarded the contract following a formal procurement process, and TLC president Joy Huang explained that it was selected as part of an overall plan to expand the Public Welfare Lottery’s instant product offering.

“Through the exciting licensed properties Scientific Games offers, we hope to further engage and entertain players in Taiwan,” Huang said.

“The Taiwan Public Welfare Lottery is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing lotteries in Asia and we believe there is significant opportunity for instant category growth by working closely with the leadership of the TLC to develop innovative content and solutions to support their important mission,” added Scientific Games’ CEO of Asia-Paficic Michael Conforti. “The addition of Scientific Games as an instant game provider will help the TLC continue its impressive growth trajectory that has resulted in ever increasing returns to its public welfare programs.”
