Central and Eastern European online betting operator Fortuna Entertainment has announced Gala Interactive chairman Per Widerström as its new chief executive officer and chairman of the management board.
Widerström, who will join the company during the fourth quarter of this year, will replace current chairman and chief executive officer Radim Haluza, who will stay with the company until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
Widerström joins Fortuna from Gala Coral Group, where he oversaw the firm’s Gala Interactive business as managing director.
Prior to this, he also held senior roles with the likes of Expekt.com, bwin.party and PartyGaming.
Speaking about his appointment, Widerström said: “Fortuna Entertainment is very well positioned to become the undisputable leader in the regulated Central European sports betting and gaming sector with the most trusted and exciting multi-channel betting and gaming brand.
“I am delighted to have got the opportunity to lead the Fortuna organisation in these exciting times.”
