Russell takes CEO role at Skrill USA

Online payment processor Skrill has appointed Christopher Russell as the new chief executive officer of its Skrill USA operation.

Russell will join Skrill from foreign exchange company World First, where he held the position of president and chief executive officer for World First USA.

In his new role, Russell will oversee all Skrill operations in the US and will further establish the brand in the market by strengthening customer and partner relationships.

Russell will replace former chief executive officer Neil Steinhardt, who has left Skrill to pursue other opportunities.

“Supported by a visionary and committed management team, Skrill’s growth potential is explosive,” Russell said.

“I look forward to leading the company’s rapid development as we increase our reach into the US market and meet the needs of our American customers.”

Siegfried Heimgaertner, chief executive officer of Skrill, added: “Christopher has influenced the development of some of the most significant organisations in the US payments space, including Western Union Business Solutions, Travelex Global Business Payments, First Data and Global Payments.

“With this experience under his belt, combined with a track record of building partnerships that enhance technology leadership and customer experience, I am confident that our US business will go from strength to strength.”
