Sportradar extends partnership with Uefa

Sports and betting-related services company Sportradar has agreed a four-year extension to its monitoring partnership with Uefa, European football’s governing body.

The extended deal will begin immediately and run until 2019.

Under the new agreement, Sportradar’s Security Services will continue to provide Uefa with betting movement information from more than 30,000 matches across Europe during each season the deal covers.

Sportradar will continue to utilise the Uefa Betting Fraud Detection System to monitor activity in the top two professional leagues and domestic cup competitions in each of Uefa’s 54 member associations.

Building on the existing deal, Uefa will also add Sportradar’s Fraud Prevention Service e-learning tutorials and roll them out to all teams taking part in the men’s and women’s Uefa under-19 final tournaments.

“For Uefa, the fight against match-fixing is a top priority because an attempt to fix a football match strikes right at the soul of our sport,” Uefa general secretary Gianni Infantino said.

“We are aware via the Uefa Betting Fraud Detection System that 0.7 per cent of over 30,000 matches monitored annually present some suspicion, but even one match is one too many.

“Among the services available to tackle this menace, the Uefa Betting Fraud Detection System is simply the best monitoring solution, and this long-standing partnership will help us to continue being vigilant and effective in safeguarding our sport for future generations.”

Sportradar chief executive Carsten Koerl added: “Uefa were one of our first partners and in the last eight years, they have constantly helped us refine our system and increase its effectiveness.

“By adding our e-learning tutorials to the services we provide to Uefa, we will be able to front some of Uefa’s key preventive measures, aimed in this case specifically at the most talented youngsters playing in Europe.”
