Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit has begun an application process in which operators interested in acquiring a licence in the Netherlands can pre-apply for one directly from its website.
According to the Pokernews.com website, the non-binding applications can be submitted via a form on the regulator’s website.
The Kansspelautoriteit said it will keep those operators that formally declare their interest in acquiring a licence up-to-date with development of the legislative process.
The regulator also plans to consult such operators for input over the licensing requirements.
The launch of the pre-application process comes shortly after the Kansspelautoriteit issued a record €200,000 ($246,398) fine to Imperial E-Club, operator of Playtech subsidiary Titanbet.com, after it was found to have been targeting customers in the country without a Dutch gaming licence.
The fine is the largest to have been issued to a single online gaming operator by the Dutch regulatory body.
