Online gaming operator bwin.party is to withdraw its ‘Sportster – Bet and Win’ social sports betting application from social networking website Facebook later this month.
As reported by iGaming Business, the operator only launched the application in September of last year through a partnership with games and technology firm Nordeus, as well as Win, the bwin.party-backed publisher of social casino games.
The app had offered Facebook users the opportunity to place virtual currency bets on live matches from various top-tier professional sports competitions around the world, as well as virtual games.
However, despite having only been live on Facebook for a matter of months, Sportster will be taken down on January 30.
“Dear users, we are sorry to inform you that we are shutting Sportster down on January 30,” bwin.party said in a notice to players.
“Please note, that you will not be able to log into the game after the scheduled date.”
The news comes after bwin.party recently confirmed that it was in discussions regarding the potential sale of its Win development studios.
