US-based online gambling company Derby Games has secured $6.5 million (€5.7 million) in financing from a recent round of funding led by Bullpen Capital.
The round also featured participation from financiers Martin Lautman and Bill Pescatello as well as various existing investors such as Andlinger & Company and Alexis Ohanian.
Derby Games said it intends to use the additional funding and resources to continue to develop new real-money gaming experiences to build on the success of its DerbyJackpot online horseracing wagering brand.
This effort will be supported by the addition of new staff in engineering, marketing and other areas of operation.
Tom Hessert, chief executive officer and co-founder, Derby Games, said: “With a platform that is legal and regulated for 80% of American adults, Derby Games is in a perfect position to win in online gambling.
“This funding and the support of great investors like Paul Martino, Alexis Ohanian and Gerry Andlinger will help us to grow even faster, identify new opportunities and execute on our mission to build the largest community of real money gamers in the US.”
The funding round was also followed up with the news that Bullpen Capital founder and managing director, Paul Martino, has been added to the Derby Games board of directors.
