The bwin.party-owned World Poker Tour (WPT) has signed a partnership with operator Europe-Bet.com to exclusively license products and services in Georgia. The agreement allows Europe-Bet.com to host three WPT events in 2015, including a WPT Main Tour event, and gain the right to distribute the World Poker Tour television show and merchandise.
The first event, the WPT National, will take place at the Europe-Bet.com Poker Club in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on June 4th, featuring a $1,000 buy-in and a $200,000 prize guarantee, with the final table to be contested on June 7th.
A second event, the WPT Champions Cup, will be held in November as part of the WPT Main Tour, with a second WPT National event to follow in December. Qualifiers for the June event are already taking place on the Europe-Bet.com website.
Europe-Bet.com Poker Club was opened in September 2012, and is the only establishment of its kind in Georgia. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and features bars, restaurants, up to 20 poker tables and a special VIP zone.
“We continue to strive to maintain our brand positioning, not only as the undisputed market leader in Georgia, but also as a globalized operator,” Europe-Bet.com chief executive Nicolas Fleiderman commented. “Our partnership with World Poker Tour will help us expand our poker penetration at a solid pace.”
“We are excited to host WPT events at our premier poker club, and to showcase our strong online offering,” he added.
WPT president Adam Pliska said that following the event’s partnership with Ourgame in Asia, the new agreement would help continue to expand its global licensing initiative to bring the tour to as many territories as possible.
“Europe-Bet.com is committed to the long-term growth of poker in Georgia and beyond, and by working alongside Mr Fleiderman and his team, the World Poker Tour has an opportunity to expand its footprint in Europe,” Pliska explained. “We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with a $200,000 guaranteed WPT National event in June, and look forward to sharing the WPT experience with everyone associated with the spectacular Europe-Bet.com Poker Club.”
