The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has moved to strengthen its commitment to responsible gambling by introducing a new online gaming voluntary self-exclusion registration option for players in the US state.
Players will be able to use the new option, which is available through the DGE’s website, to exclude themselves voluntarily from online gambling activities in New Jersey.
Individuals wishing to exclude themselves from such activities must choose between a one-year and five-year self-exclusion term.
Players that opt in to the self-exclusion programme will be asked a series of questions to identify themselves, in addition to whether they agree to the various terms and conditions that accompany the programme.
Under the previous self-exclusion system, players that wanted to opt in to such a scheme were required to create an account on one of the state’s authorised online gaming websites or apply in person at a DGE office or a New Jersey racetrack.
Despite the launch of this new online process, players wishing to register for self-exclusion from land-based operations are still required to complete the registration in person.
DGE director David Rebuck said: “The Division of Gaming Enforcement has one of the most comprehensive responsible gaming programs in the country.
“We strive to be innovative and remain at the forefront of internet gaming regulation while giving individuals options to play online responsibly, or opt out if that is the right choice for them.”
