Per Widerstrom, chief executive officer and chairman of Fortuna Entertainment, believes the online betting operator is well positioned to become the “undisputable leader” in the Central European sports betting and gaming sector after it posted significant year-on-year growth during 2014.
The operator, which is also active in the Eastern European region, reported that total gross win for the year amounted to €132.6 million ($146.6 million), up 13.9% on the previous 12 months.
Fortuna’s sports betting division proved to be the main source of this total after it generated a gross win of €125.1 million, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%.
Online betting was also up 31.2% year-on-year to €67 million while gross win from retail betting increased slightly to €58 million.
Fortuna also noted that the total amounts staked by customers jumped 18.5% to €672.4 million.
“The achieved results in 2014, particularly the growth of online business and robust profitability confirm that Fortuna is well positioned to become the undisputable leader in the regulated Central European sports betting and gaming sector with the most trusted and exciting multi-channel betting & gaming brand,” Widerstrom said.
