The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has revealed that the US state’s online gambling market suffered a year-on-year fall in revenue during February.
Online gaming revenue amounted to $10.4 million (€9.8 million) in February, which represents a drop of 0.9% on the $10.4 million achieved in the same month last year.
The February total is also down approximately 10% on the $11.6 million posted in January of this year.
The drop in online gaming revenue has been put down to the payout of a jackpot of just over $1.5 million by Betfair, the largest-ever internet jackpot to have been won in the state.
Borgata, in partnership with online poker brand PartyPoker, remains the lead operator in the New Jersey internet gaming market after it posted $3.7 million in revenue during the month, down slightly on the $3.8 million recorded in January.
Total gaming revenue in the state during February amounted to $178.4 million, down 1.7% on the $181.8 million posted by the same operators in the same month last year.
