Mondogoal launches fantasy platform for Women’s World Cup

Mondogoal has become the first fantasy sports company to develop a daily pay fantasy platform for the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup national football team tournament.

The service will offer players daily pay fantasy games during the competition, which is organised and run by football’s global governing body Fifa.

Each day of the group stages, fans can pick a team of 11 players from the four games on that day using the Mondogoal salary cap format and watch players earn points for their fantasy team with contributions they make during matches.

The best compiled scores by the end of each day will win cash prizes.

Shergul Arshad, chief executive officer of Mondogoal, said: “The Women’s World Cup is a phenomenal platform for the game, and will draw not just passionate soccer fans but a casual audience interested in both women’s sport and the majesty of a global event.

“By creating this game for a global audience we will provide a unique engagement platform for all, and we believe it will raise the visibility and the interest not just for soccer but for women’s sports as well.

The 2015 Women’s World Cup will take place in Canada from June 6 to July 5.

“In North America, daily fantasy sports has taken off, and interest in soccer is at an all-time high,” Arshad added.

“With contests for Major League Soccer and now Women’s World Cup, we are making sure the North American soccer fan not only can play fantasy contests from popular European leagues, but also from the best available locally.”
