Gaming company Amaya Gaming has been awarded licences by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) for its PokerStars and Full Tilt internet gaming brands, in addition to its B2B online casino business.
Amaya, which was previously white-listed under its Isle of Man gaming licences, had been operating the brands under temporary continuation licences since late last year.
However, the firm and its various businesses have now been granted full licences by the UK regulatory body.
Amaya noted that the awarding of these licences follows a review that includes, but not limited to, technology, game integrity, payment processing and security, anti-crime and anti-money laundering protections, responsible
gaming policies and practices, and regulatory approach to various geographic operations.
In addition, in line with the UKGC’s new rating system for player fund protection, PokerStars and Full Tilt have voluntarily applied for the highest standards of protection whereby the funds of UK players are held separately by a trustee, consistent with the approach PokerStars pioneered on the Isle of Man.
Eric Hollreiser, head of corporate communications for Amaya and PokerStars, said: “We are very pleased to receive operating licences in the UK, which is a large and growing market for us.
“We continue to build upon PokerStars’ leadership in poker in the UK and intend to leverage our scale and expertise to become market leaders in casino and sports betting.”
“We believe the UK licenses illustrate the strength of our platforms, our regulatory approach, and our commitment to integrity, security, and consumer protection.
“PokerStars and Full Tilt now hold licenses from a dozen European jurisdictions.”
