PLAYSTUDIOS, the social casino operator backed by MGM Resports, has launched two new titles on its myVEGAS app which have been developed in partnership with legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal. The two titles, Caddy Shaq and ShaqJack, are available on Facebook and via iOS, Android and Amazon for mobile devices.
The first title live on myVEGAS Slots, Caddy Shaq, is described as a new take on traditional online slot machines. Spins can trigger bonus games including a golf course side-scroller, where players have to hit golf balls and avoid a gopher, while a stack of three Shaq symbols transforms into a single Stack Shaq Wild Symbol, giving players free spins until they hit a winner.
The second title, ShaqJack, has been added to the myVEGAS Blackjack app, and features a basketball-themed layout in place of a traditional blackjack table. Players begin at a street-themed table, before moving up through different levels representing each stage of O’Neal’s basketball career.
PLAYSTUDIOS said that O’Neal worked closely with its team to develop, design and launch the games, and used motion-capture technology and audio equipment to recreate the celebrity’s likeness in the game.
“We’ve partnered with the Big Man and we are incredibly excited about what we’ve created together,” PLAYSTUDIOS chief executive Andrew Pascal said of the partnership. “When players get a flavor for how we’ve incorporated Shaq into our games, they are going to be amazed at how we’ve captured the essence of his personality. And just like our myVEGAS games, players earn real rewards as they play.”
O’Neal claimed to be a fan of the myVEGAS products, and said that players will “have some fun” with the new releases.
“Once players see the games, they are going to have some fun,” he said. “I play myVEGAS games and their features really keep you there for a while. These games will do the same thing.”
Like the other games PLAYSTUDIOS offers, Caddy Shaq and ShaqJack give players the chance to win real-world prizes, including signed T-shirts, an autographed basketball jersey, a personalised voicemail message from O’Neal, and even the chance to shoot hoops with him at his house.
