Scientific Games Corporation has signed a ten-year licensing deal to provide 5,000 video lottery terminals (VLTs) to Greek gaming operator OPAP. The company will be one of four VLT suppliers to the operator, providing nearly a third of OPAP’s network of 16,500 VLTs across the country.
Deployment is expected to begin in spring and conclude by the end of the year.
“We are proud to be chosen as one of the four suppliers to collaborate with OPAP in the installation and operations of VLTs in Greece,” said Scientific Games president and CEO Gavin Isaacs. “We believe the selection of Scientific Games to provide a significant portion of the entire network reflects the value we expect to generate with the great entertainment experience that our VLT games and cabinets provide to players.”
Isaacs said that the company’s unique combination of content libraries allows the supplier to provide a suite of game that include the best of Bally, Barcrest, Shuffle Master and WMS branded content.
“We look forward to supporting OPAP in the successful launch and seamless operation of this important new business in Greece,” said Isaacs.
Last July, GTECH was appointed as the operator’s Central Information System provider for its VLTs project. No other VLT suppliers have yet been announced.
In total, OPAP has a licence for 35,000 VLTs across Greece, of which 16,500 will be installed and operated by the company through its network. Another 18,500 VLTs will be put up for tender to be installed and run by sub-concessionaires.
