Playtech confirms major recruitment drive for omni-channel push

Gaming software and services supplier Playtech has announced it is to undertake a major recruitment drive as part of an effort to support a number of large-scale omni-channel projects both in the UK and emerging markets.

The company is currently focusing its efforts on a number of global government and non-government omni-channel contracts, the details of which are yet to be revealed by the firm.

However, Playtech has confirmed that it requires a large number of developers, operational, product, IT and customer support staff to ensure the successful delivery of such projects.

Since its investment in omni-channel technology offering Playtech ONE, the company’s global headcount has already increased by more than 20% between January 2014 and March this year.

The new recruitment drive will see a total of 300 new employees added to the firm’s 4,000-strong global workforce during the next eight months.

As part of this ongoing effort, Playtech has also revealed that it will plough more investment into certain aspects of the business in order to support the Playtech ONE growth strategy.

Sports betting will receive the largest investment, with the Playtech Sports division having been reorganised with all omni-channel sports capabilities and technology efforts merged into one division.

Playtech Sports will be further strengthened with a number of strategic bolt-on acquisitions, the details of which have not yet been revealed, while retail will also benefit from a new in-shop, EPOS management and registration system that is currently under development.

The Playtech Sports service, which offers technology across all platforms and products such as back-end and front-end infrastructure and presentation layers, has already been utilised by Ladbrokes with the bookmaker having recently soft-launched the solution.

Coral Connect, Playtech’s first major omni-channel solution launched with Coral last year, has also proved to be a success in the industry, with the bookmaker having signed more than 200,000 new omni-channel Connect customers in 12 months.

Mor Weizer, chief executive officer of Playtech, said: “Playtech’s revolutionary technology enables a seamless, one wallet and one account experience with content available across all channels, online and mobile, and across all devices.

“The success of Connect has been a game-changer for the industry and for us as a business.

“It is a technology offering we adopted long before any of our competitors and is the future of betting and gaming.

“Therefore, with a number of significant agreements close to completion, we are currently undergoing a large-scale investment plan in order to deliver the maximum success for these projects.”
