Deutsche Telekom enters German online gambling market with Tipp3

German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom has completed its expansion into the country’s online gambling market with the launch of the new Tipp3.de internet sports betting platform.

The new website will be operated by Deutsche Sportwetten, of which Deutsche Telekom holds a 64% stake and Austrian provider Österreichische Sportwetten a 36% share.

Although the new service will have a strong focus on football betting, customers can access wagering options for other sports such as basketball and the Formula 1 motor racing championship.

Tipp3.de will only offer betting services for professional sports and will not allow customers to wager on amateur or youth matches.

The new website will also feature Deutsche Telekom’s Pass ID, an identification system that will only allow verified players to access the betting services.

Customers that sign up to use the new service will receive a starting bonus of up to €103.

Matthias Schmidt-Pfitzner, head of digital media at Deutsche Telekom, said: “We are betting on the growth market of sports wagers.

“We are entering the business as a trustworthy online provider – with a maximum focus on security, quality and the customer experience.”
