Czech lottery and gaming supplier SYNOT Group has signed an agreement to provide a number of video lottery terminals (VLTs) to Greek gaming operator OPAP. SYNOT will be one of four VLT suppliers to the operator, and confirmed that it would supply “thousands” of VLTs to OPAP, without divulging an exact figure.
Scientific Games revealed last month that it would be providing 5,000 VLTs, nearly a third of OPAP’s network of 16,500 VLTs across the country, with Inspired Gaming Group supplying an additional 3,960 machines.
“We consider this as an important step forward,” said Ivo Valenta, chairman of SYNOT’s board of directors.
Valenta said that SYNOT was the only European supplier to be selected by OPAP.
“I firmly believe that our success is based on our 20 years experience in the lottery industry as well as on the fact of operating all around the world,” he said. “I do believe that this fact opens the door to the second-round tender as the company OPAP is about to start another tender on 18,500 VLTs.”
SYNOT, which already operates in 13 countries, said that it would also expand its operations in Greece to other business areas, including IT, telecommunication services, as well as sports supporting or tourism-related investments.
