Cherry names Burvall as new chief executive

Swedish online gaming operator Cherry has appointed Fredrik Burvall as its new chief executive officer and president with immediate effect.

Burvall has been with the company since joining in 2006 as vice-president and chief financial officer.

After being appointed acting chief executive officer and president in December following the departure of Emil Sunvisson, he will now assume the roles on a full-time basis.

Rolf Åkerlind, chairman of the Cherry board, said: “Fredrik Burvall has showed a strong drive and passion for the company during his years as CFO and vice-president. Furthermore, he has a vast knowledge of the gaming industry.

“Cherry made some management changes in December 2014 and the combination of strengthening our Malta organisation and Fredrik’s experience will result in a group management that will help Cherry to reach profitability with continued strong growth.”

Prior to his time with Cherry, Burvall held various senior positions with Ericsson and Modern Times Group.
