Delaware hit by slump in online gaming revenue

The Delaware Lottery has revealed that a sharp decline in online casino games led to a drop in overall internet gaming revenue during April.

Combined online gaming revenue in Delaware totalled $132,000 (€121,400) in April, a drop of 10% on the amount posted in the previous month and down 45% from when the market peaked at $240,800 in April 2014.

Despite revenue from online poker having increased 11% on the previous month to approximately $48,500, this figure is down 35% on the amount collected in April 2014.

Delaware officials also noted a heavy drop in revenue from online casino games, with figures from this sector being the worst for more than one year.

Operators won just $15,600 from online table games during April, 70% less than in March and the lowest total since such activities were first regulated in the state back in November 2013.

The Delaware Lottery did note that slots and video poker fared better in April, with revenue of $68,000 up 34% from the previous month.
