Denmark enjoys online casino revenue growth in Q1

Danish national gambling regulatory body Spillemyndigheden has revealed that an increase in revenue from online casino activities helped boost the country’s overall gaming market during the first quarter.

Despite a slight year-on-year drop in online poker revenue to DDK45 million, the body did report that revenue from the country’s betting market was up from DDK415 million in Q1 of last year to DDK440 million this year.

Total revenue from the betting and online casino market in the first quarter amounted to DDK750 million, up from DDK670 million last year.

Elsewhere, revenue from gaming machines during the quarter totalled DDK370 million, up slightly from the DDK365 million collected in the same period last year.

Revenue generated by land-based casinos remained flat at DDK75 million in comparison with the same quarter last year, but down on the DDK85 million posted in the fourth quarter of 2014.
