The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has announced that the US state’s online gaming market experienced further year-on-year growth during the month of May.
Internet gaming win amounted to $12.5 million (€11.2 million) in May, up 19.1% on the $10.5 million posted in the corresponding month last year.
Although the figure is slightly down on the $12.6 million posted in April of this year, it was enough to take New Jersey’s total online gaming win for the year-to-date past the $60 million mark.
The total of $60.3 million by the end of May is 12.6% ahead of the $53.5 million posted at the same point last year.
The Borgata interactive gaming licence, which includes the Borgata, PartyPoker and Pala Interactive online gaming operations in New Jersey, remains out in front ahead of other operators in the state, with revenue of just under $4 million in May.
However, the figure is slightly lower than the revenue total posted in the same month last year, with other operators such as Caesars Interactive and the Golden Nugget having made ground on Borgata.
Despite ongoing success within the online gaming sector, the NJDGE noted that the state suffered in terms of other gambling markets in May.
Slot machine win was down 10.9% on a year-on-year basis to $157 million, with table game win also falling 8.1% to $51.6 million.
Total casino win for the month dropped 10.2% from $232.4 million in May of last year to $208.6 million this year.
The NJDGE also noted that total gaming win for the state was down 9% on a year-on-year basis to $221.1 million.
