Betfair Trader’s Horse Racing Wagering Dispute

Betfair appoints Devitt as marketing chiefA Betfair (SBR rating A-) trader has written to Sportsbook Review with a wagering complaint.

The player registered at betting exchange Betfair on June 4 to wager on Louisiana track, race 1.

Three minutes prior to post time, he states that Betfair removed a runner from the card (horse number 6) without any explanation. The horse ran and should not have been scratched, says the player.

Because of the error, he closed out his position on the horse, then states that after the race ended, Betfair realized its error and reinstated the horse, then voided bets afterward which affected the player’s wagers closing out his position on the horse.

He lost €89.11 as a result of the confusion. He was offered a €25 compensatory bet by Betfair to be used in the sportsbook. The player states that he only uses the racebook and has no interest in the sportsbook, and that he should not be penalized because of the betting exchanges’ error.

Sportsbook Review is investigating this horse betting complaint.
