Bitcoin website operator faces Nevada court hearing

Bryan Micon, former operator of the ‘Seals with Clubs’ Bitcoin poker site, will this week attend a court hearing in the US state of Nevada after being charged with operating an unlicensed gaming website.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Micon will on Thursday travel from his home in Antigua for the hearing in a Nevada court.

The news comes after Micon was in April charged with one count of operating an unlicensed interactive gambling website.

However, an arrest warrant that was approved in April in connection with the charges has now been recalled in order to allow Micon to return to the US.

Micon fled the US in February after Nevada Gaming Commission officials raided his home following the closure of the Seals with Clubs site.

Micon posted a message on video-sharing website YouTube detailing the raid, although this video is currently unavailable.

If convicted of the charges, Micon faces up to 10 years in prison and $50,000 (€44,700) in fines.
