Dansk Underholdning to integrate Balletbingo.dk

Danish multi-branded bingo and casino operator Dansk Underholdning has moved to integrate rival brand Balletbingo.dk into its portfolio.

The move comes following years of discussions between the two companies, which have established themselves as leading operators of online bingo following the regulation of such activities in the country in 2012.

Dansk Underholdning, which holds a license with the Danish Gaming Authorities and operates out of Malta, will serve as the continuing company following the integration of Balletbingo.dk.

“Merging with Balletbingo significantly strengthens our position and creates a clear market leader in our segment,” Dansk Underholdning part-owner and chief executive Peter Eugen Clause said.

“The Danish market is attractive and with more regulation expected, for instance Bingo as a paid product, we are now in a perfect situation to take advantage of future market changes.”

Bent Danholm, founder of BalletBingo.dk, added: “Although both run healthy and profitable operations already there are obvious synergies to harvest from creating one company. The merger creates a number of cost synergies increasing our profitability significantly.”

As part of the integration process, Dansk Underholdning will upgrade from an existing GTECH platform with IGT games to a new solution, and said the details of which will be made public in due course.

The move comes after major operator Ladbrokes this week confirmed its exit from the Danish market following its failure to hit profit targets in the country.
