Smarkets provides non-answer in identity dispute

smarketsimageBetting exchange Smarkets (SBR rating C) has provided an update on the player complaint reported Saturday.

In this complaint, SBR detailed how a player claimed he deposited $20 on May 12 and managed to turn a small profit of $75.

The player wanted to test the withdrawal process at Smarkets before investing more funds with the betting site, so he requested to be paid his balance approximately a week after he turned his balance over a couple of times.

Smarkets asked the player to provide a scanned copy of his passport and other identification, he obliged the request and then waited a period of one month before his account was blocked and he was told he would not be paid.

SBR followed up to discuss what about the player’s documents were not in order, and if he would at least be paid his starting deposit.

Smarkets provided something of a non-answer, as they reiterated they are free to request documents from players at any time, and that if they are unable to verify an account with said documents, players will be contacted with steps on how to complete the verification process.

In this case, the player has stated he was given no such additional information.

Smarkets is otherwise unwilling to discuss details of the complaint.
