New Russian Finance Bill set to outlaw online gaming transactions

Russia has moved to further clamp down on online gambling in the country by introducing a new bill that could prohibit banks from processing internet gaming transactions.

Although online gambling is not currently legal in the country, some internet gaming operators are continuing to offer services to players across Russia.

As reported by iGaming Business, Russia in January announced plans to begin blocking online gambling payment methods as part of a wider effort to prevent fraud.

Russia’s Finance Ministry has now taken this a step further by introducing a new Finance Bill that, if passed, would prohibit banks from processing online gaming transactions.

The bill has is reportedly backed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
