BetAtHome Deposit Complaint: €580 in Limbo

betathome-logoBetAtHome Sportsbook (SBR rating C) player filed a complaint with SBR ten days ago.

The player claimed that he deposited €580 with the online sportsbook.

He quickly had his account closed, and was asked to upload documents including a photo of himself holding his passport next to his face – a request becoming more commonplace in today’s industry.

This is to satisfy the Know Your Customer (KYC) process with online sportsbooks that is in place to satisfy gaming regulators, and to curb fraud.

The player has claimed that he has no winnings and simply wants his deposited funds back. He believes that his situation was contributed to by opening an account through a buddy’s referrer program. He denies foul-play or ill intent.

Sportsbook Review attempted to discuss the player’s issue with the sportsbook, but was told that the betting site could not speak to third parties about the issue and asked the player to contact the sportsbook from his registered email address. The player says he has done so, but has gotten nowhere.

The player has been advised to contact the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) to further contest the issue.

Online sportsbooks cannot seize player deposits, even if they believe the player tried taking a shot for an extra sportsbook deposit bonus or violated some clause of their terms and conditions. The industry standard is that sportsbooks cannot profit from fraud.
