Bitcoin website operator Micon handed two-year probation

Bryan Micon, the former operator of the ‘Seals with Clubs’ Bitcoin poker website, has been sentenced to two years’ probation and fined $25,000 (€22,900) for illegal gambling charges.

As reported by iGaming Business, Micon in June pleaded guilty to a charge of operating an unlicensed interactive gaming website at a Nevada court.

Micon’s plea came after he fled the US in February after officials from the Nevada Gaming Commission raided his home following the closure of the poker website.

Micon was formally charged in April with one count of operating an unlicensed website and, after an arrest warrant approved in connection with the charges was recalled to allow Micon to return to the US, in June he left his Antigua home to attend a court hearing in Nevada.

Although earlier reports suggested that Micon could face up to 10 years in jail, a guilty plea has led to the former Bitcoin website operator being sentenced to the probation and fine.

Micon has also been ordered to forfeit certain items seized by police earlier this year.

Micon’s attorney Ricjard Schonfeld said that as soon as his probation is up, he intends to relocate to his Antigua home on a permanent basis.
