Alderney executive director to take ICGR role

The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has confirmed that André Wilsenach is to step down as executive director of the regulatory body to take up a new role with the International Centre for Gaming Regulation (ICGR).

Based at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in the United States, Wilsenach will serve as executive director of the ICGR.

Wilsenach, who has been with the AGCC for 14 year, will remain with the body until the end of January.

“The decision to move on has been a difficult one, especially, given my longstanding relationship with AGCC, Alderney and Guernsey,” Wilsenach said.

“I am extremely proud of Alderney’s standing in the world as a jurisdiction and pleased to leave the AGCC in the hands of a very professional and capable leadership.

“The position at the ICGR presents an exciting opportunity to apply my knowledge and experience of regulating both the terrestrial and online gaming sectors in promoting regulatory best practices around the world, and where better to do it from than Las Vegas, the capital of the gaming industry.”

Lord Richard Faulkner, chairman of the AGCC, added: “Whilst we are naturally sorry that André will be departing after 14 astonishingly successful years with us in Alderney, we are delighted that he has been sought out by the University of Nevada Las Vegas to set up and run such a highly prestigious academic centre.

“His appointment is a huge compliment to the quality and effectiveness of the AGCC’s regulatory régime, and to André’s achievement in helping to establish it.

“He leaves the Commission in excellent shape, and well able to face whatever challenges the future may bring.

“We shall make an announcement about his successor very soon.”
