West Virginia Lottery selects SG to supply new monitoring system

Scientific Games has sealed a contract to supply the West Virginia Lottery with its Connexus central monitoring and control system, connecting the state’s gaming machines, video lottery outlets and casinos.

The roll-out of Connexus will allow the lottery to monitor around 14,000 machines, located in more than 1,350 licensed retailers along with West Virginia’s five casinos.

The system will replace Scientific Games’ existing AEGIS video system and provide real-time monitoring of security events and financial meters, verifying that only properly certified software is running on all gaming machines connected to the system.

Scientific Games has supplied the West Virginia Lottery with the AEGIS system since 2006. The original contract was set to expire next year, before it was extended until 2018.

“After a thorough and competitive procurement process, the selection of Scientific Games and their Connexus system allows us to provide both our licensed retailers and casinos with a modern monitoring and accounting platform that we feel confident will meet the current and future needs of our stakeholders,” West Virginia Lottery acting director John Myers commented.

“The West Virginia Lottery takes its role of ensuring the integrity, security and viability of West Virginia’s gaming business very seriously,” Scientific Games president and chief executive Gavin Isaacs said.

“Being chosen to deploy our next-generation Connexus system is a tribute to the very high standards by which the West Virginia Lottery operates and the powerful, yet cost efficient and flexible attributes of the Connexus system,” he explained.
