Australian social gaming studio Royal Wins has followed last year’s Facebook launch of its Kash Karnival app, which incorporates elements of skill games into free-to-play casino products, with the roll-out of a smartphone variant of the product.
The company is looking to build on the success of the Facebook launch with the release of Kash Karnival for iOS and Android devices.
To date the Facebook variant has attracted 150,000 players, with Royal Wins aiming to capitalise on the interest of its skill-based offering with the mobile launch.
It highlighted the growth of casino and card game revenue on the Google Play store, which has risen 105 per cent year-on-year.
“Royal Wins sees this trend as a shift in spending from web-based social casinos on Facebook towards more of a mobile marketplace as the ubiquity of mobile devices introduces more and more people to these types of games,” the studio explained.
Kash Karnival looks to tap into a niche by offering players casino games that also allow players to bet on various skill-based elements. Virtual chips can then be converted into real-world prizes through the app’s Kash Store, allowing them to win a range of rewards such as gadgets, fashion accessories and sporting items.
Royal Wins believes this is unique to the app, and an excellent method of attracting both male and female social casino gamblers.
Using this model the studio aims to disrupt what it calls “a relatively bloated, slow and unprogressive industry.”
“Today’s technology shows that there is more choice than ever in online casinos, but they are all fighting over the same 55 year-old housewife audience,” Royal Wins head of product and creative director Myles Blasonato explains.
“We need to captivate a whole new breed of player; young social gamers who crave entertainment and want greater control in winning through their skill,” he says. “We will meet this demand by ‘gamblifying’ skill and ‘skillifying’ chance games.”
