DEQ appoints Sands China veteran as chief legal officer

Canadian casino games developer DEQ Systems has appointed Charles Meredith as its new chief legal officer and company secretary.

Meredith joins DEQ from Sands China, a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, where he has worked for 11 years as assistant general counsel.

During that time he worked on some of the world’s largest integrated resort developments including the Sands & Venetian Macau and Marina Bay Sands.

His previous roles also include head of legal for The Ho Tram Project Company in Southern Vietnam, and a spell at the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, representing the Nevada Gaming Control Board and Nevada Gaming Commission, as well as other state agencies.

“As our chief legal officer and corporate secretary, Chuck’s casino operations, international markets and regulatory experience will be a tremendous addition to our global growth efforts,” said Joseph Bertolone, president and CEO of DEQ. “This represents another core addition to the DEQ team.”

Commenting on his new role, Meredith said: “This is a great opportunity and I am very excited about the future of DEQ and working with the DEQ team.”

He will be based in Las Vegas, with the appointment subject to regulatory approval.
