A BetOwi Sportsbook player has filed a payout complaint.
The online sports bettor requested a $500 bitcoin withdrawal on February 8, one day after the Super Bowl.
He has yet to be paid, though the player successfully received $1,000 a month prior. The player was told that third-party processors are to blame for the delay.
A specific time-frame of by February 11 was initially provided by customer service. The player has shared that he has contacted customer service multiple times following up on the payout status but has not learned exactly when the payout will be made.
The player argued that the very nature of bitcoin should lend itself to quick and seamless transactions, though that has not been his experience. SBR reported on January 4 that BetOwi players reported slower than normal bitcoin payout time-frames.
BetOwi is a sister sportsbook to SportsBettingOnline.
BetOwi is rated C- in the online sportsbooks rating guide.
SBR has asked BetOwi for comment on this payout complaint.
Sportsbooks that offer bitcoin will be judged by a different standard by players in the event that payouts cannot be handled efficiently: with so many online betting sites able to pay the same day or within minutes using this method, there should not be significant delay from the time of request to payment completion.
